IP Set Top Box
I led the UI effort to incorporate Cloud DVR on two of Spectrum TV’s platforms. Cloud DVR was first introduced as a way to sell DVR on an IP platform. In the past it has only existed as part of a traditional set top box using a physical hard drive contained within the box. We wanted to make our new IP TV options which don’t include a hard drive become more desirable by offering a similar option.
I also worked on a previous version of Cloud DVR and traditional DVR where I was on a team that created the logic for Roku, Samsung TV, iOS and Android apps.
Flows shown in this project were created by my team member and UX designer, Nino Silva.
Journey 1: Setting a Recording
These flows for each journey helped to show me what UI we needed to create cross platform in order to satisfy the business requirements for cloud DVR.
Journey 1 is for a customer who has yet to use the Cloud DVR feature. This customer needs to be able to set recordings from the guide, info banners over live tv and the product pages. It is then my role to create the UI and decorations for each of these use cases.
Journey 2: Watching a Recording
Journey 2 is for a customer who has created recordings and is looking to watch them. We decided to add a section in the ‘My Library’ and allow recordings to be watched directly from the product pages.
Journey 3: Modifying a Recording
Journey 3 is for the customer’s management needs. This includes deletion and changing series options. The flow to the left is highlighting My Library, one area you can manage recordings from. This can also be done from the product page and the end of player session.
Android TV UI
This uses the new colors, typeface, and styling of the Kite Next TV UI Kit I created.
APPLE TV UI
This was created when Apple TV was still using Kite Beam, the previous UI Kit to Kite Next.
